Sign at the Rumbling Bald Resort on Buffalo Creek Road near Lake Lure.
The Rumbling Bald Resort between Bills Creek and Lake Lure. The resort gets its name from Rumbling Bald, a mountain with high cliffs that overlooks Lake Lure. The cliffs have some of the world's largest fissure caves and the 'rumbling' in the name comes from the small earthquakes that sometimes rock the area. Fortunately, much of the mountainside with the cliffs and caves have been included in the new Chimney Rock State Park.
Karen by the Buffalo Creek Road.
The incredibly twisty pavement of the Buffalo Shoals road puts the Dragon to shame.
