Above, Al and Karen take a break at the entrance to Mt. Mitchell State
Park.
It was an excellent summer of riding. Trips to Virginia, Tellico Plains,
several to the Dragon, an ADV rendezvous over in Del Rio, TN, and many,
many more in the rider's candy store of western North Carolina. This
is sort of a grab bag of photos from some of those rides.
Below, a nice little 58
Chevy that I ran across near home while making a watermelon run. I like
the old iron.

If I'm short on time, one of my favorite rides is the loop down through
Green River Cove and then back up through Holbert Cove. It's a great
ride with good scenery, very little traffic, and lots of wildlife -
gotta be alert, especially late in the day.

"Just dropped in to see what condition my condition was in..."

A hundred miles to the west, I ride the Winding Stairs dirt road down
into Nantahala Gorge. It's a sweet ride - very narrow, very steep, and
fairly smooth.

Below, the bridge over the Nantahala River near the end of Winding Stairs.
