Sunset over Mt. Sheridan and Heart Lake. I put in the bottom photo to illustrate what seems to be a massive landslide that took place on the east face of Mt. Sheridan. The entire red-colored ridge along the lake shore seems to have cascaded down from the mountain at some point in ancient times. That would have dwarfed the 'little' slide at Hebgen Lake. A lot of the forest on Mt. Sheridan was burned in the big fires of 1988. At one point, the inferno grew so large that the fire lookout on top of the mountain had to be airlifted to safety. |
