The Alaska Basin and South Teton Canyon Shelf in the Jedediah Smith Wilderness

Fall colors paint a steep slope below the Teton Canyon Shelf by the trail to Alaska Basin. This photo was taken in late September at a time when bears were feasting on the abundant berries that flourish on the wet slopes. We counted several from this one spot. The trail that leads from Bug Hole to Mt. Meek runs along the top of the cliffs in this photo.
