The Zoid, nestled in a stand of alpine fir trees, high above the Teton Basin. The campsite was located on the south slope of the Wedge. A tiny intermittent stream ran by just a few feet away, seeming to turn on and off on an hourly basis. I never discovered the source of the stream, and was unable to learn what caused it to flow boldly for an hour or so, and then disappear for another hour or so. Regardless of the reasons, it was some mighty fine water. Bottom photo: Mount Meek and Mount Jedediah Smith stand against the sky on the eastern rim of Darby Canyon. |
