There is a little gap in the ridgeline between the Wedge and Mount Meek that offers a staggering view down into the depths of Teton Canyon, with the South Teton Shelf lying just a few hundred feet below. I had passed that way only a few days earlier, having no idea how beautiful the land atop the cliffs that I walked beneath really was. In the top photo, the Cathedral Group in Grand Teton National Park soar into the sky, with streamers of early morning cloud wreathing the peaks. Hurricane Pass, between Alaska Basin and the Grand, is visible against the mist in front of the Cathedral Group. I didn't know it at the time, but on the day I made this hike, my doctor and old running buddy was summiting the Grand.
The Wedge is just to the left (west) of the photo. I scrambled up the side of the peak for quite a ways before deciding that risking the loose rock and steep cliffs on a solo trip when nobody had any idea where I was at was probably not a good idea. I would never have made it from this side anyway, at least not without climbing gear.

Below: Looking out across Teton Canyon, the flat top of Table Mountain is visible against the horizon.
