The Devils Stairs trail in the Jedediah Smith Wilderness

My tent site was chosen, not so much for convenience or practicality, but simply because I needed a spot to shelter from the storm and clouds of mosquitoes. Had I known, I think that I would have waited until the storm died down to climb higher on the bench, where a number of superb campsites were available.

Here, the Shelf tapers off as it reaches the lower end of its run to the west end of the canyon. The wildflowers were incredible!
