Back again a couple of years later, I spent 2 weeks hiking about 140 miles through the canyons of the Jedediah Smith Wilderness. This is the view from the rim of South Leigh Canyon, with Table Mountain prominent against the skyline to the southeast. This view illustrates the long last climb up to the top of the mountain.

This is a hike I highly recommend. Unlike the trail that heads up to Table Mountain, this path gets little traffic. You can access this ridge from several spots. One trail leads up from the North Fork of Teton Canyon, far below. Another way to access the ridge is to park at the Grand Targhee ski resort and head up the old road that winds up the mountain behind the resort. The trail cuts off waaay up the mountain and takes you through the gap between Marys Nipple and Peaked Peak. From there to the ridge above South Leigh Lakes is scenery that is as good as it gets in the Tetons.
