The trail up the South Teton Canyon Shelf in the Jedediah Smith Wilderness

Can it possibly get any better than this? I awoke the following morning to a cool, clear day, with a stiff breeze that swept the mosquitoes back into whatever hell they reside in. These two photos show the broad sweep of the Teton Canyon Shelf as it heads east towards the Teton Crest trail and Mt. Meek.

The Shelf is carpeted with wildflowers and in the upper part, it has a number of limestone caves and sinkholes to explore if you dare.

The Shelf as seen from the talus field below Table Mountain. Battleship Mountain lies between Table Mountain and South Teton Canyon and the Shelf. The scattered stands of trees in the two upper photos are visble at the right side of the picture, near the lower end of the Shelf.
