The Devils Stairs trail in the Jedediah Smith Wilderness

A view of the rugged upper stretch of the Devils Stairs trail. I've often wondered about the couple that was climbing the Stairs ahead of me. A hellacious thunderstorm slammed into the canyon just as we reached the top. I was barely able to get my tent set up before the rain and hail started pouring down. The couple were a long way from the trailhead, on a very exposed canyon wall. I'd bet that they had an exciting descent back down to the canyon floor.
