Top photo: Thousands of cubic yards of tangled and smashed tree trunks, mingled with piles of shattered rock, clog the Sluice. The main line up Dry Sluice was completely blocked below this point, and we had to cut across the mountainside to the east to scramble up another chute to find a spot over the debris. Below: The bottom of the slide, where the easiest path led up and over the piles of smashed trees. I wouldn't want to do this one after it warms up enough for the rattlesnakes to start moving around. |
