Both of these shots are from our first trip up Ramsey to Drinkwater Pool and beyond. The danger of traveling back down the creek is that instead of pulling yourself up the boulders, rocks, and fallen trees that litter the streambed, you're now dropping down from them, often on slick surfaces. Of course, you do the same going upstream, but not nearly as often. Hiking poles help, but I've never had any luck with them. It's not that they don't offer good support for me, but I seem to leave them behind at the first stop and that gets expensive.
