Newfound Gap can be seen as a low point on the horizon right of center in this stitch of about 9 photos - it has a little white fluffy cloud floating just above it. Clingmans Dome is the high dark peak further west of the Gap. Further east, you can see the high peaks of Mt. LeConte (barely) and Mt. Kephart, and then the jagged crest of the Sawteeth running out towards Pecks Corner and Eagle Rocks. The long green ridge in the foreground of the photo runs down towards the town of Cherokee. This was taken from south of the Great Smokies from a point high along the Blue Ridge Parkway between Soco Gap and Oconaluftee.
There's a heap of great hiking and backpacking inside the boundaries defined by this photo.
