A 'stitched' panorama made up of 4 separate photos, that shows the sprawl of the western end of Lamar Valley, far below this high point on Specimen Ridge. The Gallatin Range is visible on the horizon, far to the west, in the area of the Lee Metcalf Wilderness. Bottom: Paul drops off the ridge on the elk trail that leads back to the area of the Lamar River Bridge, visible in the valley below. However, on this day, we cut back to the left (west) on another elk trail to explore the cliffs and forests along the high ridges as we headed back to the trailhead. |
