From near timberline on the north slope of Mt. Washburn, you have an awesome view of the south side of Specimen Ridge, with Slough Creek and the snowcapped Beartooth Range in the distance. Antelope Creek is in the valley just below Mt. Washburn, and shadowed Specimen Ridge is behind the dead trees on the right side of the photo. The north side of Specimen Ridge is much steeper than the south side, with cliffs and rocky bluffs rimming the northern edge of the Ridge. On the south side, broad meadows stretch across a high plateau to the edge of the Agate Creek canyon. In the bottom photo, Paul looks to the east from a vantage point near the edge of the Ridge. |
