A curious mule deer welcomes us to the Slough Creek campground. The mulie resembles a cute cartoon character, with its bounding gait and huge ears. The large deer is well suited to life on steep open slopes, where its ability to bound effortlessly through very rough terrain enables it to escape its enemies.
