In the top photo, you can spot the barn at the backcountry patrol cabin, nestled hard up against the dense forest on the eastern side of the Slough Creek valley. Slough Creek wanders down through a series of meadows between the rugged mountains of the Beartooth Range and the Lamar River. This area, known as First Meadow, is rumored to have a success rate of about 5 fish an hour during prime fishing season. The fish average about 15 inches in length. However, that's not what makes fishing here such a unique experience. The real beauty of time spent wetting a fly here in the valley of Slough Creek is knowing that you're having a wild experience in truly untamed Yellowstone. Whether you catch fish or not, it'll be a trip that you'll never forget.

For more information on the fishing in Slough Creek, just check on google with an entry of "slough creek + fishing + yellowstone". You'll find plenty of folks willing to share their experience and knowledge about pursuing trout in the valley.
