My buddy Paul checks out an arch formed by house-sized boulders that have tumbled down from the cliff above on a hillside in the Slough Creek canyon. The roar of the water crashing over the boulders and logjams in the creek below drown out any attempts to make yourself heard by any Griz that might be wandering the canyon. We moved slow and still tried to make a lot of noise, since there was ample sign that a large Griz had just passed along the path that we were climbing through the canyon.
