Top: Walk-in campsite at Norris. Nice spot - I heard my first saw whet owl while camping here. We also listened as the two ladies camping in the site next to us had a lovers quarrel that involved an entire night of screaming, loud accusations, and crying. Crap - I'd much rather put up with the battles between rutting bull elk down at Shoshone Lake.
Next pic: The folks in the van in the photo were scared of bears - so they piled all of their food on the ground outside their van and then slept inside the vehicle. Not just ice chests, but bags and boxes of food as well. Makes you feel real secure when you're tent camping only a couple of hundred feet away in Griz country. That is one reason that I feel safer hiking and backpacking alone in the backcountry than I do camping in many of the Park campgrounds.
