May 2010 hike to Charlies Bunion with Annie

May 30, 2010 loop hike. Balsam Mtn. Sterling Ridge, Pretty Hollow Gap, Palmer Creek and the Round Bottom Road. One of the finest walks in the Great Smokies.

June 5, 2010 hike out to Tricorner Knob and back with Donna - a great day in the Great Smokies.

July 3 and 4, 2010. A repeat of the May 30 loop around Balsam Mtn, Sterling Ridge, Pretty Hollow Gap, and Palmer Creek, followed by a walk along the Cataloochee Divide.

July 6, 2010 out and back return visit to Tricorner Knob Shelter from the Cosby campground.

January 16, 2011. A mid-winters climb to Mt. LeConte on the Alum Cave Bluff trail - lots of snow and a smooth trail!

January 30, 2011: A loop up the Rainbow Falls trail to the top of Mt. LeConte, and back down the Bullhead trail. More snow - woohoo!

February 13 & 14, 2011: Hiking the AT from I-40 to Hot Springs, NC. 33.9 miles. Another section bites the dust!

February 25, 2011: On the AT from Stecoah Gap to Wesser and the Nantahala River. 13.6 miles. One of the best sections yet!

February 26, 2011: Stecoah Gap to the Fontana Dam. 13.1 miles.

March 19, 2011: Early spring hike along Big Creek in the Great Smoky Mountains to the Gunter Fork trail.

April 2 and 3, 2011: A creek walk down the Right Fork of Raven Fork to camp at Three Forks - good times in a truly wild corner of the Great Smoky Mountains.

July 16 and 17, 2011. Section hiking from Devils Fork Gap to Erwin, TN. 33 miles of mountain goodness!


July 23, 2011: A climb with the Smoky Mountain Hiking Club up Trout Creek in the Great Smoky Mountains to reach the top of Big Duckhawk Ridge. Wow!!!


July 30, 2011: Bushwhacking up the Roaring Fork Branch drainage on Mt. LeConte with Seth O'Shields.

August 19, 2011: Bushwhacking up Styx Branch from the Alum Cave Bluffs trail to Myrtle Point. Awesome!!!

Sept.10, 2011: A wild climb to the summit of Partons Peaks - thickest greenbrier that I've ever been in, but it was a small price to pay to enjoy one of the most superb views that I've ever seen in the Great Smoky Mountains.


Oct. 22. 2011: Bushwhack up Alum Cave Creek to climb the south slope of No Name Ridge - a major goal of the Wild County gang!
