The elk were placed into this secluded enclosure beside the trail across Rough Fork Ridge and held there long enough to 'imprint' the area as their home. The decision to do this was key to the program's overwhelming success.

The walls of the enclosure have a walkway extending down one side where spectators were given a chance to watch the release.
