Dawn at Eagle Creek

This shot was taken at the point where Eagle Creek enters Fontana Lake. The campsites are on the other side of the creek - the west side. Several of my friends from the Seayakkers had driven up to Fontana for a few days of exploring the north shore. Lake level was about 6 feet below full pond, which meant that power boats had access to the campsites. One group had brought in a huge tent, along with a large jambox that played Oh Brother, Where Art Thou for 24 hours straight - at full volume. Luckily, we were able to move up the creek far enough to escape the racket and enjoyed a great night by the water.

That's my faithful Diamond Brand Free Spirit tent on the left - I believe that was the last time that I took a tent on a summer trip. I use the Hennessey Hammock now instead - it's a lot cooler.

At full pond, the lake level runs right along the edge of the meadow in the photo.
